Role Overview
The CompEX Technical Lead, you will play a key role in enhancing and developing the DSEAR department at Electroserv. Your primary focus will be on providing technical compliance support to internal and external engineers. This role requires travel across the UK and EU and is ideal for someone located near the M60 in the Northwest area. The role will be split as 70-80% field based.

Key Responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will have been a time served apprentice with your specialism being in DSEAR and ATEX regulated industries and hold a current Compex 01-04 or 01-06 qualification. This is a full-time, permanent position and the role will involve driving to customer sites, including some overnight stays away from home covering the below key responsibilities:
- Advise on and implement improvements to systems and quality assurance measures.
- Develop and improve DSEAR-related policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Assist in setting and refining strategic goals for the DSEAR department.
- Contribute to the creation and review of risk assessments for hazardous environments.
- Partner with the DSEAR Department Manager to define and monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness of DSEAR compliance and best practice.
- Provide expert technical guidance to field engineers.
- Liaise with the in-house DSEAR Department Manager on technical DSEAR hazardous area classification requirements.
- Offer in-depth knowledge and practical application of DSEAR and ATEX regulatory frameworks and processes to ensure application with clients.
- Deliver DSEAR and ATEX training to internal and external employees.
- Support project delivery and operations teams in engaging specialist contractors or consultants for DSEAR and ATEX engineering.
- Conduct site audits and review completed works to maintain the highest standards.
- Oversee QA for handover packages to clients.
- Act as a client-facing representative, managing projects onsite.
Professional Qualifications
- Comprehensive understanding of DSEAR and ATEX regulations, including BSEN 60079 and 80079 standards.
- Basic knowledge of Process Safety Management (e.g., Risk Assessment, LOPA, SIL).
- Familiarity with BS EN 60079-10 and relevant industry codes of practice (e.g., EI15 & IGEM).
- Proven ability to review and analyse DSEAR assessments.
- Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in assessing probability and risk.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders effectively.
- Demonstrated expertise in DSEAR and ATEX regulations with a professional approach.
- Commercial project awareness and excellent time management skills.
- Understanding of Ex ia verification documentation.
Training & Qualifications
Essential:
- Ex01-04 Certification
- Electrical qualification, minimum HNC level
- The right to work in the UK and travel to EU.
- Full UK driving license as the role is fully field based.
Desirable:
- Ex12 and Ex14 Certifications
- Ex05-06 Certification
- C&G 2391 Certification
