Role Overview
This position sits within the Field Service Team. The role will primarily involve conducting site inspections, perform electrical rectifications, and ensure compliance with IEC/BS EN 60079 standards. This role involves regular travel across the UK and EU.
The role will sometimes be split to assist with shut down work and instrumentation installation across process industries including aerospace, food, beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas.
Applicants based within the M60 would be favourable due to the client base. However, the role will be field based.

Key Responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will have been a time served apprentice with your specialism being in Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Engineering and hold a current Compex 01-04 or 01-06 qualification. This is a full-time, permanent position and the role will involve driving to customer sites, including some overnight stays away from home covering the below key responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough ATEX/CompEX inspections to IEC / BS EN 60079-17 standards.
- Ensure all identified risks and non-compliances are reported promptly and clearly.
- Accurately record inspection results with attention to detail.
- Produce comprehensive handover documentation post-site inspection, enabling stakeholders to take swift corrective action.
- Carry out timely and high-quality electrical rectifications, ensuring all issues are resolved to industry standards.
- Reduce downtime and enhance operational safety through precise electrical repairs and installations.
- Work with area classification drawings and reports to confirm compliance.
- Install containment and cable systems to a high standard, ensuring durability and safety.
- Interpret and work efficiently from electrical wiring diagrams to ensure project goals are met.
- Demonstrate strong time management to deliver inspections and rectifications on schedule and within scope.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to improvements in inspection processes or equipment quality.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to enhance site safety outcomes and compliance.
Key Skills and Knowledge
- Proven ability and experience conducting ATEX/CompEX inspections, delivering high-quality reports, and achieving safety compliance.
- Strong knowledge of BS EN 60079-14 & 17, ensuring all work meets or exceeds compliance requirements.
- Skilled in glanding, terminating, and installing containment and cable systems.
- Proficient in interpreting electrical wiring diagrams and area classification reports.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel, SharePoint and Microsoft 365 for reporting and documentation.
- Willing to travel across the UK and EU, demonstrating flexibility to meet project demands.
- Strong time management skills to deliver inspections and corrective work.
Essential Qualifications
- C&G 2391, 2391-52, or 2394 & 2395 – Inspection and Testing certification.
- JIB Gold Card or Higher – Approved Electrician certification with a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- CompEx Modules EX01-4 (CompEx EX04-06 desirable).
- Safety Passport – Valid CCSNG/JIB or equivalent safety accreditation.
- Full driving licence as the role is fully field based.

- Previously worked in a service / field-based role.
- The ability to develop good working relationships with customers.
