Role Overview
This position sits within the Field Service Team. The role will primarily involve conducting DSEAR inspections on electrical and instrumentation equipment. The role will sometimes be split to assist with shut down work and instrumentation installation across process industries including aerospace, food, beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas.
Applicants based within South of Birmingham would be favourable due to the client base. However, the role will be field based.

Key Responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will have been a time served apprentice with your specialism being in Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Engineering and hold a current Compex 01-04 or 01-06 qualification. This is a full-time, permanent position and the role will involve driving to customer sites, including some overnight stays away from home covering the below key responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with dangerous substances. This includes evaluating the likelihood of fires, explosions, and other incidents.
- Regularly inspect and audit facilities to ensure compliance with DSEAR regulations. This includes checking storage, handling, and usage practices of dangerous substances.
- Accurately document findings from inspections and audits. Prepare detailed reports that highlight potential risks and non-compliance issues and suggest improvements or corrective actions.
- Develop and recommend safety measures to mitigate identified risks. This might involve changes to equipment, processes, or workplace layout.
- Investigate any incidents or near-misses involving dangerous substances to determine their causes and prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that the workplace complies with all relevant DSEAR regulations and other related health and safety laws. Keep up to date with changes in legislation and standards.
- Work closely with various stakeholders, including customers, management, external regulatory bodies, and office staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Professional Qualifications
- The candidate should an engineering background with a time-served engineering apprenticeship achieving a recognised electrical or controls and instrumentation engineering qualification such as ONC/HNC level.
- CompEx 01-04 (CompEx 01-06 desirable). • IOSH Managing Safety would be advantageous.
- Experience of working within a hazardous area (DSEAR).
- Knowledge of ISO Standards.
- Full driving licence as the role is fully field based.

- Highly self-motivated and have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Results focused and can deliver accurate results on time.
- Previously worked in a service / field-based role.
- The ability to develop good working relationships with customers.
- Excellent Communication skills, both verbally and written.
